Imagine a compact cabinet with [curved edges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weaver-cabinet), super glossy surfaces with a high shine finish, chrome silver accenting and a perfectly smooth countenance unbroken by handles or knobs. Designed by Marco Acerbis, the Superego embodies all these stylish elements and more. Completely modern, the [storage unit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nelson-basic) opens and closes softly upon the touch of an automatic switch and once opened, the interior lights up for easy view of everything stored within. The Superego side cabinet can also function as a futuristic mini bar with glasses and beverages tucked away inside. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 58% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sleek Side Cabinets:** There is an opportunity to innovate in the side cabinet industry by creating sleek designs with glossy surfaces and high shine finishes. - **Automatic Switches:** The development of automatic switches for cabinet doors can disrupt the storage unit industry by providing a modern and convenient user experience. - **Multi-functional Storage Units:** Creating storage units that can also serve as mini bars or have additional functionalities can be a disruptive innovation opportunity in the furniture industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can benefit from disruptive innovation by incorporating sleek and multi-functional storage units into their product lineup. - **Home Decor:** In the home decor industry, offering modern and stylish side cabinets with automatic switches can attract customers looking for sophisticated storage solutions. - **Interior Design:** The side cabinet trends can be incorporated by interior designers to create chic and modern spaces with innovative storage solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet.md) - [Offset Shelf Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-slice-sideboard-concept.md) - [Curved Base Plywood Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-embrace-sideboard.md) - [Redefined Modern Sideboard Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tacito-sideboard.md) - [Miniature Sanitized Cabinet Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yujin-lee.md) - [Metallic Multifunctional Storage Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabine-101.md) - [Nature-Inspired Mesmerizing Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/genipadu-sideboard.md) - [Cabinet-Concealed Modern Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/obelisk-3.md) - [Asymmetrical Storage Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crossbred-side-table.md)
