Featuring paper creations inspired by the ancient world, this collection of Siba Sahabi sculptures is a dramatically unique application of paper that seems almost beyond the realm of possibility. In truth, however, the enormously patient sculptor creates her artworks by carefully [cutting and folding paper strips](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basket-sculpture) before shaping them into layers. The result is some truly mind-blowing pieces that capture the spirit of the [pottery of the past](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daon-pottery) perfectly. Indeed as Siba Sahabi puts it: "My aim is to translate culture into objects; I want to build a bridge between the orient and the occident." Needless to say, that is one objective she has definitely achieved. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Paper Sculptures:** The trend of creating intricate sculptures using paper as a medium showcases the limitless possibilities of artistic expression. - **Ancient-inspired Art:** The trend of incorporating ancient elements and cultural influences in art pieces provides a fresh perspective on traditional aesthetics. - **Cultural Translation:** The trend of translating cultural heritage into tangible objects bridges the gap between different communities and fosters cross-cultural understanding. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can explore opportunities in creating innovative sculptures using unconventional materials. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can leverage the trend of ancient-inspired art to offer unique and culturally rich decor pieces for consumers. - **Cultural Preservation:** The cultural preservation industry can utilize the trend of cultural translation to develop products that celebrate and preserve diverse cultural traditions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Experimental Pottery Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gourd-project.md) - [Stunning Sustainable Pottery Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sustainable-pottery.md) - [Sophisticated Upcycled Home Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/basket-sculptures.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Origami-Inspired Ceramics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-series.md) - [Human Hair-Made Pots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/range-of-pots.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Pottery-Inspired Artful Notebooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kintsugi-art.md)
