# Shrimps On Treadmills Scientific Experiments Are Comedy Gold By Cowbag | Published 2008-11-04 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shrimps-on-treadmills-scientific-experiments-are-comedy-gold References: [urlesque](http://www.urlesque.com/2008/11/03/shrimp-runs-on-underwater-treadmill/) & [buzzfeed](http://buzzfeed.com/laurencook/shrimp-on-a-treadmill-nv) For reasons which remain unclear, scientists used an underwater treadmill to prove that a shrimp could run for 3 hours without needing a rest. Why that was important enough to waist hours of research on is beyond me. Of course they also had to invent an underwater tread mill for the shrimp, which is almost the coolest thing about it. What can beat that? I love the science geeks who video taped it and edited it with the music from Benny Hill. This resulted in comedy gold. It is the funniest thing I have seen in AGES and made me laugh out loud. It is already at almost half a million views, just days after being released on the web. Move over dramatic lama. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.6/10 - Popularity: 37% | Activity: 94% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Humor](https://www.trendhunter.com/humor) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Underwater Treadmill Technology:** Developing specialized exercise equipment for aquatic life could potentially disrupt aquatic sports industries and the potential of aquatic therapy for humans. - **Animal Behavior Research:** Research into animal behavior could have implications for the pet and livestock industries with opportunities to create innovative products or improve animal welfare through greater understanding. - **Humorous Scientific Experiments:** There is significant interest for humorous science content, creating opportunities for businesses to market science education in an entertaining way to both children and adults. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Agriculture and Livestock:** Researching animal behavior and specialized exercise equipment could offer new innovations in how livestock is raised and housed. - **Aquatic Sports:** The advancement of underwater treadmill technology could bring about improvements to athlete training for swimming, diving, and other water-based sports. - **Entertainment:** Humorous scientific experiments have great potential in the entertainment industry for producing viral content, creating marketing campaigns or building a brand with social media. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Shrimp Waste Carbon Materials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/university-of-sharjah.md) - [Lobster Heating Pads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crustacean-lobster-twist.md) - [Sweat-Themed Comedy Specials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/live-comedy-special.md) - [Indoor Exercise Pet Treadmills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lifepro-paw-runner-dog-treadmill.md) - [Tech-Forward Compact Treadmills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-treadmill.md) - [Inaugural Global Treadmill Championships](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/global-treadmill-championship.md) - [Gamified Treadmill Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aviron-victory-treadmill.md) - [Amusing Work Platform Ads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monday-platform.md) - [Compact Foldable Treadmills](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/walkingpad-1.md)
