This shower curtain desk is an example of a simple, cheap and stylish home makeover project you can make on a rainy day. The clever homemaker who underwent this project had an old [IKEA](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hypercustomizable-desk) desk table that no longer matched the decor of the home. Instead of being wasteful with the still-functional furniture, the owner chose to revamp this dated desk. People will often do the same thing by [painting old surfaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/re-up-side-tables) to change their color, but this owner chose instead to upholster the piece with a patterned shower curtain that matched the home. This shower curtain desk underwent a major makeover with minimal funds. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 7% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Upcycling Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create new and stylish furniture pieces by repurposing old items, reducing waste, and saving money. - **DIY Home Makeovers:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Provide affordable and creative DIY solutions to transform and personalize home furniture. - **Patterned Upholstery:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Offer unique and customizable upholstery options to add personality and style to furniture pieces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop sustainable and cost-effective furniture designs that promote upcycling and customization. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create innovative products and solutions for DIY home makeovers, including affordable and unique upholstery options. - **Craft and DIY Supplies:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Provide a wide range of materials and tools for DIY enthusiasts to revamp and personalize their furniture with patterned upholstery. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hyper-Customizable Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hypercustomizable-desk.md) - [Humorous Quick Cleanup Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flip-desk-concept.md) - [Colorful School Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clever-school-desk1.md) - [Ergonomic Multi-Use Desk Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabinett-desk.md) - [Space-Saving Foldable Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldable-desk1.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Friendly Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-desk.md) - [Ultra-Chic Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-desks.md) - [Sculptural Wall Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-wall-desk.md) - [Minimalist Modular Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/console-desk.md)
