# Marble-Wood Stationery Organizers Shkatulka by Lesha Galkin is Sophisticated and Sculptural By Meghan Young | Published 2014-05-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shkatulka-by-lesha-galkin References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2014/05/12/the-secret-box-pen/) & [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/16523707/Shkatulka) The juxtaposition between marble and wood in Shkatulka by Lesha Galkin, a product designer based in Saint Petersburg, Russia, is unexpected. Interestingly, the two work together to make the stone more approachable while dressing up the raw wood. Creating a pale and organic [organizer for stationery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/firki), it has a [sculptural aspect](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karimoku-1) that works to enhance the look of a desk space. Recently shown at the design fair in Milan, Italy, Shkatulka by Lesha Galkin provides specific areas to store particular objects. For instance, a set of [marble ridges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terra-frammenti) can be covered in pencils and pens while a sectioned wooden box can hold everything from books to other odds and ends. The name of the collection is inspired by the Russian word for 'casket.' ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.1/10 - Popularity: 84% | Activity: 60% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Marble-wood Fusion:** The combination of marble and wood in design creates unexpected and visually striking products. - **Sculptural Organizers:** Organizers with a sculptural aspect elevate the aesthetic appeal of workspaces. - **Functional Storage Solutions:** Designs that provide specific areas for different objects offer practical and organized storage options. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can explore innovative designs that incorporate contrasting materials for unique and visually appealing products. - **Stationery:** The stationery industry can leverage sculptural organizers to offer stylish and functional storage solutions for office supplies. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can use the combination of marble and wood in their designs to add an element of sophistication and elegance to spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Curved Stacked Wooden Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/box-set.md) - [Wooden Magnetic Desktop Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oakywood-oakyblocks-magnetic-modules.md) - [Sculptural Geometric Desk Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kiir.md) - [Organized Minimal Pen Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stilo75-pen-holder.md) - [Hand-Crafted Wooden Stationary Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onebox.md) - [Storage Box-Transformed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chunks-and-blocks.md) - [Ergonomic Multi-Use Desk Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabinett-desk.md) - [Modular Wooden Desk Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/track-concept.md) - [Volcanic Rock-Inspired Cabinet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuff-pencil-cabinet.md)
