# Graffitied Shipping Container Homes The Architecture Firm ZeiglerBuild Designed This Abode By Jamie Danielle Munro | Published 2014-04-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shipping-container-homes References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/todd-miller-shipping-container-home) & [zieglerbuild.au](http://www.zieglerbuild.com.au/) Upcycled, [shipping container homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kennedy-model) are not just abodes used by people with a lack of funds. Instead, firms such as ZieglerBuild are re-appropriating this material and using it to create masterpieces, with ample amounts of space and flair. This home is located in Australia, and instead of trying to wash away the graffiti covering the shipping containers, the firm decided to keep it on for an added dash of character. This graffiti work is a motif seen throughout the house, even in the interior. Artwork hangs in most of the hallways, and the steel structure of the shipping containers is also exposed inside the house, adding to its [industrial nature](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glassbrick-apartment). Shipping container homes are no longer abodes associated with people in the lower bracket, but are now becoming chic, upscaled places of residence. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 56% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Shipping Container Architecture:** The trend of upcycling shipping containers for architecture is disrupting traditional construction methods, providing more affordable and sustainable housing solutions. - **Graffiti as a Design Element:** The trend of incorporating graffiti designs into architecture and interior design is disrupting traditional design norms, providing a unique and personalized touch to living spaces. - **Industrial Aesthetics:** The trend of embracing industrial aesthetics in residential architecture is disrupting traditional home design, creating a modern and edgy look for living spaces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can explore the trend of upcycling shipping containers and incorporating alternative materials, such as graffiti, into designs to provide more affordable, sustainable, and personalized housing options. - **Interior Design:** The interior design industry can embrace the trend of using graffiti as a design element and incorporating industrial aesthetics into living spaces to create a modern and edgy look. - **Construction:** The construction industry can adopt the trend of using shipping containers as building materials to provide a more eco-friendly and cost-effective construction option, while also exploring the use of alternative materials, such as graffiti, for aesthetic purposes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pink-Hued Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pink-shipping-container-homes.md) - [Triple Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modhouse-tiny-home.md) - [Ruin-Adaptive Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barneys-ruins.md) - [Versatile Compact Modern Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/augustine-tiny-home.md) - [Senior-Friendly Single-Floor Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mark-vi-vic.md) - [Shipping Container Tiny Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rising-sun.md) - [Shipping Container-Built Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kennedy-model.md) - [Cost-Effective Shipping Container Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/custom-container-living-nook.md) - [Miniature Insulated Home Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ark-tiny-homes.md)
