# Serene Lavatory Layouts The Shima Bathroom Concept Promises Your Own Personal Spa By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-09-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shima-bathroom-concept References: [industrialdesignserved](http://www.industrialdesignserved.com/gallery/Shima/913287) It's hard to believe that the only [truly relaxing room](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lagom) in your home might in fact be the washroom, as it's fairly impractical and inappropriate to bring work and electronics into that sort of space. Whether you're bathing, using the toilet or grooming before the mirror, the Shima Bathroom concept by Salvador Bru creates an environment that will cause you to temporarily forget the outside world. The minimalism of the amenities is enough to quieten the space and the stresses of your mind. Stark geometries are used in the white vanity, the [black marble countertop](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piano-washbasin), the graceful [semi-spherical sink basin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archiplan-compact-basin-collection) and the elegant U-shaped faucet. Every element looks clean and rational, and with your toiletries kept cabinets of the Shima Bathroom concept, you'll be sure to experience a moment of total refreshment each time you step inside. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 11% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalist Bathroom Design:** Embrace the trend of minimalist bathroom design with clean lines, sharp geometries, and simple, rational elements. - **Personal Spa Experience:** Create a personal spa experience in your own home with serene lavatory layouts that promote relaxation and rejuvenation. - **Incorporating Natural Materials:** Incorporate natural materials like black marble countertops and white vanity to bring a sense of elegance and tranquility to your bathroom. ### Where This Applies - **Interior Design:** The minimalist bathroom design trend offers opportunities for interior designers to innovate and create spaces that promote tranquility and well-being. - **Home Improvement:** Home improvement businesses can tap into the demand for personal spa experiences by offering services and products that cater to creating serene lavatory layouts. - **Luxury Bathroom Fixtures:** Manufacturers of luxury bathroom fixtures can capitalize on the trend of incorporating natural materials and create elegant and tranquil bathroom environments. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Utility-Focused Bathroom Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/showdown-system.md) - [Tranquil Modern Bath Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zencha.md) - [Cutting-Edge Bathroom Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathroom-design1.md) - [Smart Toilet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-toilets.md) - [Modern Home Wellness Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kohler.md) - [Collaborative Seashell-Like Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spire-washbasin.md) - [Collaborative Bathroom Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bathroom-design2.md) - [Comprehensive Spa Wellness Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spa-wellness-experience.md) - [Forest Walk-Inspired Bathroom Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antao.md)
