# Saddle-Like Seating The Shetland Stool by Haworth Brings a Western Touch to Offices By Meghan Young | Published 2012-06-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shetland-stool References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/shetland-stool-by-haworth) & [haworth](http://www.haworth.com/) The Shetland Stool is a playful seating that appears to be inspired by a saddle. From the rounded shape to the layered materials, people couldn't be held accountable if as soon as they sat down one of their arms went unbidden above their head and a few 'hee-haws' escaped from their mouths. The curve at the base of the Shetland Stool also encourages a rocking motion that will really emphasize the horse-riding fantasy. Designed by office furniture giants Haworth, the Shetland Stool is part of the latest Haworth Collection. Available in two versions, a fun rocker or more static bench, the Shetland Stool will add an adventurous touch to any workspace. It comes in either a wood plyform with a walnut veneer or white painted plyform. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.2/10 - Popularity: 56% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Saddle-like Seating:** Designing rockers and benches that mimic saddle-like seating for an adventurous touch in workspaces. - **Layered Material Seating:** Incorporating layered materials in office seating to create visually appealing and comfortable designs. - **Playful Office Seating:** Creating playful and unique office seating designs that encourage movement and increase productivity. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers that specialize in office furniture offering playful and functional designs to consumers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers seeking to incorporate modern and playful seating designs into office spaces. - **Startups and Tech Companies:** Companies looking for unique office seating designs that inspire creativity and collaboration in the workplace. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Saddle-Inspired Ergonomic Modern Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pepe-stool.md) - [Playful Compact Hybrid Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pony.md) - [Functional Decorative Rocking Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rool-stool.md) - [Ultra-Simple Workstation Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/verk-stool.md) - [Contemporary Rocking Pouffe Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/platero.md) - [Sleek Structural Rocking Horses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rocking-horse-chair.md) - [Active Sitting Cork Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ylin-stool.md) - [Multifaceted Geometric Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stackable-stools.md) - [Sustainable Space-Saving Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flex-perch-stool.md)
