Fairey, one of the foremost practitioners of modern day street art and graffiti-based political satire, is perhaps best known for developing President Barack Obama's 2008 Presidential campaign posters "Hope," and "Progress." In the Shepard Fairey 'Playing Field' exhibit we see his works for President Obama, as well as pieces that serve as tributes to American intellectual and contemporary critic, Noam Chomsky, rockers Black Sabbath and Billy Idol, and the original inspiration of Fairey's celebrity-inclusive street art, Andre the Giant. These images will be displayed at Culver City, California's Carmichael Gallery from June 18th, 2011 to July 9th, 2011. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 72% | Activity: 42% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [DIY](https://www.trendhunter.com/diy) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Political Satire Street Art:** Opportunity for artists to create politically-charged artwork that challenges societal norms and sparks conversations. - **Celebrity-inclusive Street Art:** Potential for artists to use celebrities as inspiration for street art, blurring the lines between mainstream culture and public spaces. - **Iconic Art Exhibition:** Exhibition of renowned artist's most recognizable works creates opportunities for art enthusiasts to experience and appreciate cultural and artistic significance. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Culture:** Artists, curators, and galleries could leverage political satire street art to attract a diverse audience and promote thought-provoking conversations. - **Entertainment and Music:** Opportunity for musicians and celebrities to collaborate with street artists to create visually captivating art pieces that resonate with fans. - **Event Planning and Exhibitions:** Event organizers can capitalize on iconic art exhibitions to attract visitors, generate buzz, and promote cultural awareness. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Street Artist Digitalized Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shepard-fairey-1.md) - [Graffiti Culture Art Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1970s-graffiti-today.md) - [Provoking Graffiti Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/david-ruggeri.md) - [Cosmic-Themed Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosmicthemed-art-exhibition.md) - [Sneaker-Inspired Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drip.md) - [Artful Activism Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowflake-exhibition.md) - [Public Art Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paul-anthony-smith.md) - [Indoor Playground Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/indoor-playground-art-exhibition.md) - [Childlike Characters Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/childlike-characters-art-exhibition.md)
