The first edition of Poketomo takes the form of a meerkat, and it is set to be available as both a tangible robot that stands about 12 centimeters tall and an AI character via an app, which can be spoken to or texted. Poketomo enables personalized voice-based conversations, remembers what it's told, places visited, and it expresses itself with gestures and a belly that changes colors. On X (formerly Twitter,) Sharp started a manga series featuring the daily life of a character called Nanami and her experiences living with Poketomo. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 7.7/10 - Popularity: 92% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 50% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [AI](https://www.trendhunter.com/ai) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Pocket-sized AI Gadgets:** The emergence of compact AI devices like Poketomo introduces opportunities for personalized, portable companionship gadgets that enhance user engagement through interaction and entertainment. - **Emotional Support Robots:** AI companions with a focus on emotional connection, like Poketomo, disrupt traditional modes of interaction by providing users with a sense of presence and friendship. - **AI-driven Storytelling:** Incorporating AI devices into narrative formats, as seen with the Poketomo manga series, reshapes storytelling by integrating technology into creative content. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Consumer Electronics:** Innovations like the pocket-sized AI companion Poketomo are transforming the consumer electronics industry with new interactive technologies that offer personalized user experiences. - **Digital Entertainment:** The blend of AI companions with narrative content, exemplified by the Poketomo manga series, creates new dimensions for digital media and entertainment industries. - **Mental Health and Wellness:** AI companions designed for emotional support, such as Poketomo, present novel opportunities within the mental health industry by promoting user well-being through companionship. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [AI Pocket Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweekar.md) - [Portable AI Emotional Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-emotional-companion.md) - [Furry AI-Powered Pet Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aipowered-pet-robot.md) - [Emotion Recognition Robot Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kakaloom.md) - [Next-Gen AI Pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zumi.md) - [Interactive AI Companion Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pophie.md) - [Furry AI-Powered Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moflin-1.md) - [AI Companion Charms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eiliko.md) - [AI Desktop Companion Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tcl-tbot.md)
