# Eerie Space Creature Bookends The LEGO Alien Book Stand by Shannon Ocean is Accurate and Creepy By Andrew Robertson | Published 2012-06-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shannon-ocean References: [superpunch.blogspot](http://superpunch.blogspot.ca/) & [flickr](http://www.flickr.com/photos/10104652@N06/7340720280/) [LEGO](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wicked-bookend) artist and Sci-Fi aficionado Shannon Ocean created a LEGO Alien book stand in anticipation of the upcoming film Prometheus. Ocean originally wanted to create a model that had the face of the Space Jockey (a character present in both Prometheus and Alien) for one half and the Alien for the other. This endeavor did not pan out as hoped so Shannon settled for having two alien faces instead. The model is eerily accurate and displays two characteristics that fans of the Alien saga will notice. First is the iconic mouth-tongue that makes the Alien such a deadly foe, and second is the use of transparent LEGO pieces to create the impression of drooling. The LEGO Alien book stand would be an excellent way to keep one's favorite science fiction novels neatly in place. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **LEGO Art:** The use of LEGO as a medium for art and design highlights opportunities to create unique products and experiences. - **Novelty Book Accessories:** The creation of quirky book accessories provides a potential niche market for products that cater to fans of popular culture. - **Fan-made Products:** The rise of fan-made products showcases the potential for community-driven innovation and collaboration. ### Where This Applies - **Home Decor:** The LEGO Alien book stand exemplifies potential product development in the home decor industry. - **Entertainment Merchandise:** The Alien book stand highlights the potential for innovation in the entertainment merchandise industry. - **Diy/arts and Crafts:** The use of LEGO as a medium for art highlights potential opportunities for innovation in the DIY/Arts and Crafts industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Whimsical Theater-Themed Bookends](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wicked-bookend.md) - [Superhero-Themed Block Pen Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-lord-helmet.md) - [Sci Fi-Inspired Desk Decor](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightsaber-lego.md) - [Sci-Fi-Honoring Toy Puzzle Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/force-of-creativity.md) - [Sci-Fi Film Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-icons-project-hail-mary-set.md) - [Horror Film-Inspired Brick Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ideas-jaws-set.md) - [Sci-Fi Movie Scene Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-death-star-trash-compactor-diorama.md) - [Retro Space-Themed Puzzled Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/john-carter.md) - [Space-Inspired Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/koalabrick.md)
