Designed by Tord Boontje for Moroso of Italy, the collection includes variations of [wingback chairs, armchairs, loungers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/africa-collection), sunbeds and footstools. No object looks quite like anything else you've seen, since its form has been imaginatively exaggerated into [fantastical curves and curls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moopi) and enhanced with [polychromatic plastic textiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/no-two-alike). The objects are unavoidably stimulating to the eyes. Practically speaking, the Shadowy Chairs are made sturdily of steel with weather-resistant material, able to withstand the elements in your backyard. You'll find that the swirling tops of some of the seats are particularly convenient at offering shade on sunny days. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 11% | Activity: 16% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Whimsical Furniture Designs:** The Shadowy Chairs exemplify the trend of creating furniture pieces with imaginative and playful designs. - **Polychromatic Textiles:** The use of vibrant and multi-colored plastic textiles on the Shadowy Chairs reflects the trend of incorporating bold and eye-catching patterns in furniture. - **Weather-resistant Outdoor Furniture:** The use of weather-resistant materials in the construction of the Shadowy Chairs taps into the trend of creating durable and long-lasting outdoor furniture. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers in the furniture industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities by incorporating whimsical and imaginative designs into their product offerings. - **Textile Production:** The demand for polychromatic and vibrant textiles in furniture design presents an innovation opportunity for the textile industry to develop unique and eye-catching materials. - **Outdoor Living and Decor:** The Shadowy Chairs highlight the growing market for weather-resistant outdoor furniture, creating opportunities for businesses in the outdoor living and décor industry to offer durable and stylish options. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Suspenseful Statement Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/edgeofyr.md) - [Shimmering Cantilevered Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/2023-shadow-chair.md) - [Stainless Steel Reflective Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair.md) - [Cozy Flower-Like Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beba-armchair.md) - [Tranquil Reading Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapters-furniture.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Moon-Inspired Modular Seating Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wigiwama.md) - [Industrial Light-Equipped Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hidden-light-chair.md) - [Sea Creature-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seat-urchin.md)
