While the ink looks like a hand-drawn piece of art from a sketchbook, the tattoos are completely made using tattoo ink. The intricacy of these shaded tattoos is emphasized with the use of dark and light ink-made shadows. Each piece of artwork is created with black ink and uses no color, which enhances the look of the pencil-like drawing. Nomi Chi is inspired by animation and often creates playful cartoon sketches. The artist uses this style of tattooing as an attempt to convey movement within all of her pieces. Using a pencil and paper allows the shading to easily reveal actions, but using an ink gun is much more difficult. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.8/10 - Popularity: 99% | Activity: 98% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Shaded Tattoos:** Opportunity to explore new shading techniques in tattooing, mimicking hand-drawn pencil sketches. - **Black and White Tattoos:** Opportunity to create striking tattoo designs using black ink only, resembling pencil drawings. - **Animation-inspired Tattoos:** Opportunity to bring movement and playfulness to tattoo artwork, inspired by animation style. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Tattoo Artistry:** Opportunity for tattoo artists to offer unique shaded and black-and-white tattoo designs that resemble pencil sketches. - **Ink Manufacturers:** Opportunity to develop specialized inks for shading techniques in tattooing, catering to the demand for pencil-sketch-like tattoos. - **Art Supply Stores:** Opportunity to stock art supplies specifically for creating pencil-sketch-like tattoos, attracting tattoo artists and enthusiasts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dainty Minimalist Temporary Tattoos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/winterstone.md) - [Custom Tattoo Design Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-tattoo-generator1.md) - [AI-Powered Tattoo Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blackdot-device.md) - [AI Tattoo Visualizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ink-studio-ai.md) - [Custom Tattoo Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-tattoo-creator.md) - [Progressive Rewritable Tattoos](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magic-ink.md) - [Custom Tattoo Designers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ai-tattoo-generator2.md) - [AI Tattoo Generators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tattoo-canvas.md) - [Online Tattoo Art Marketplaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blackdot.md)
