# Swan-Like Seating The Serenad Chair by Ali Alavi Boasts Graceful Sweeping Lines By Meghan Young | Published 2012-09-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/serenad-chair References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/09/05/metal-swan/) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/gallery/SERENAD-chair/4339259) The Serenad Chair is reminiscent of the classic Swan boat rides often found at amusement parks. Of course, the resemblance ends at the [sweeping lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mysa) and seated position. Not only does the Serenad Chair not float, it is a much more [abstract and modern interpretation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-chair) of the graceful bird. Designed by Ali Alavi, the Serenad Chair specifically takes on the unique form of a sleeping swan, the way it cranes its head inwards to use its feathery body as a pillow. Made out of metal, it sports a [reflective chrome finish](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aerospace-seat-spn01) that gives it a futuristic tough. Mirroring its surroundings, the Serenad Chair will fit perfectly into any space it is placed in, be it a home, lobby or office area. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.5/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Abstract Seating:** The Serenad Chair showcases the potential for abstract and modern interpretations of traditional seating designs. - **Reflective Finishes:** The use of a reflective chrome finish in the Serenad Chair highlights the trend for furniture with futuristic and sleek aesthetics. - **Space Optimization:** The Serenad Chair's ability to fit perfectly into any space it is placed in reflects the growing trend for furniture that maximizes space utilization. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can explore the trend of abstract seating and incorporate unique designs like the Serenad Chair into their projects. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can capitalize on the trend for reflective finishes by introducing more products with futuristic and visually striking materials. - **Office Space Planning:** Companies and office space planners can embrace the trend of space optimization by selecting compact and versatile seating options like the Serenad Chair. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stainless Steel Reflective Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair.md) - [Soothing Boat-Like Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canoa-chair.md) - [Structurally Complex Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-arch-chair.md) - [Aluminum Stainless Steel Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/morph-chair.md) - [Ergonomic Butterfly-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wings-chair.md) - [Music-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-chair1.md) - [Slick Futuristic Chair Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/classical-norwegian-design.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Contemporary Leather Classic Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sling-chair-1.md)
