# Foldable Urban Canopies Seoul Shade Provides Portable Shelter for Parks and Public Spaces By Amy Duong | Published 2026-06-03 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seoul-shade References: [behance.net](http://behance.net/bkidstudio) Seoul Shade is a conceptual portable sunshade developed by BKID Co as a flexible alternative to permanent shade infrastructure. Inspired by the folding mechanism of a camping chair, the design combines a lightweight tubular frame with a stretched fabric canopy that can be assembled, collapsed, and transported with ease. Sized for one or two occupants, the structure is intended for use in parks, outdoor events, pathways, and recreational areas where temporary protection from the sun may be needed. The project reflects BKID Co's interest in public design solutions that encourage adaptable use of shared spaces. The canopy is designed to function both as an individual shelter and as part of larger grouped installations. Multiple units can be arranged in rows, clusters, or along pedestrian routes to create temporary shaded environments without permanent construction. The form balances portability with a visually distinctive profile that resembles a sail or wing when deployed.
