# Transforming Furniture Hybrids The Sensei Chair Offers a Space to Sit and Eat By Matt Ho | Published 2012-01-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sensei-chair References: [bonjourlife](http://www.bonjourlife.com/2012/01/sensei-space-saving-furniture.html) & [claudiosibille](http://www.claudiosibille.com/sensei.php) Claudio Sibille's Sensei Chair is a [space-saving furniture piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-furniture1) that will benefit those who live in tight spaces. Think of it as a two-in-one design with a [multifunctional concept](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sisto). The Sensei Chair is both a seat and a table. The [folding design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/patan-chair) allows the furniture piece to take two different forms. Simply fold the chair down and it will automatically transform into a table. The counter is shaped in a way that allow two seats to connect to one another to form one whole piece. On its own, the Sensei is more limited in space, but it would make an adequate mini-coffee table if there's only one chair. Sibille's Sensei is clever and practical, and its modern design will complement any home. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 71% | Activity: 78% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Transforming Furniture:** Opportunity to create innovative furniture designs that can be easily transformed to adapt to different needs and spaces. - **Space-saving Solutions:** Opportunity to develop compact and versatile furniture pieces that maximize space in small living environments. - **Multifunctional Design:** Opportunity to design furniture with multiple uses and functions, offering practicality and versatility to consumers. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to create transforming furniture designs that cater to the growing demand for space-saving solutions. - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to incorporate multifunctional furniture pieces into interior design concepts, optimizing space utilization. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity to offer consumers furniture hybrids that combine style and functionality for small living spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Industrial Shapeshifting Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jointable.md) - [Expanding Three-in-One Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expandy.md) - [Table-Equipped Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/migo-chair.md) - [Modular Table Seatings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Angular Transforming Furniture Pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/optimus-furniture.md) - [Multifuntional Modular Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-transformer-table.md) - [Transforming Child Stool Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flipflap-childrens-chair.md) - [Storage-Attached Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grid-chair.md)
