The Sense+ was created because the majority of smoke detectors have a hard time detecting smoldering fires. Since these detectors use ionization, they are not as responsive to fires that start slowly. Sense+ solves this by using a photoelectric detector. If the dock senses smoke, it sounds an alarm and alerts you. In the even that you don't respond, Sense+ uses your phone to call a preset list of numbers. In addition, it also gives you the option to call emergency services.
