# Limb-Like Selfie Sticks The Selfie Arm is Handy for Reaching Your Most Photogenic Angle By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-04-29 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/selfie-arm References: [buzzfeed](http://www.buzzfeed.com/javiermoreno/this-selfie-stick-is-shaped-like-a-human-arm-to-make-it-look?bftw&utm_term=4ldqpfp) & [justincrowestudio](http://www.justincrowestudio.com/selfie-arm.html) Those who often find themselves needing a hand to take the perfect portrait may consider the extraordinarily quirky Selfie Arm as a practical apparatus. The [peculiar prosthesis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reversible-robotic-hand) has been modelled on a human arm, complete with four fingers, a thumb, a wrist, an elbow and even a black cotton sleeve. Attached at the opposite end to the fingertips, a [smartphone mount](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stage-powergrip) can secure your handset as you hold the outstretched hand. A particularly amusing picture can be taken if you include the Selfie Arm within the frame. As a functional extension, distancing your camera at roughly two arms' lengths away, this anthropomorphic contraption gives the photographer a wider angle to capture more of his or her surrounding scenery. Now, however helpful, this product seems to take a bit of a joking jab at the somewhat dorky concept of the [selfie stick](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silence-corner-mambapod) for tourists traveling solo. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.0/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 86% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Bizarre](https://www.trendhunter.com/bizarre) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Limb-like Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop limb-like accessories for various purposes, such as holding objects or providing additional support. - **Unconventional Smartphone Mounts:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create unconventional smartphone mounts that offer unique and fun ways to capture photos or videos. - **Novelty Photography Equipment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design and produce novelty photography equipment that adds humor and playfulness to the photo-taking experience. ### Where This Applies - **Consumer Electronics:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new and unconventional product designs in the field of consumer electronics, specifically aimed at enhancing user experience. - **Accessories and Wearables:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative accessories and wearables that serve both functional and aesthetic purposes. - **Entertainment and Events:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce novel and entertaining photography equipment to enhance the experience of entertainment events, such as concerts and parties. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smartphone Gimbal Attachments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snappy-mobile.md) - [Multi-Functional Smartphone Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meboge.md) - [Elongated Smartphone Photography Lenses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sandmarc-probe-lens.md) - [Shapeshifting Photography Tripods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/octopus-tripod.md) - [Solo Vlogger Smartphone Gimbals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gimbal-griptok.md) - [AI-Powered Prosthetic Arms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-prosthetic-arm.md) - [Flexible Smartphone Carrying Straps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/morf-strap.md) - [Magnetic Smartphone Photography Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiftcam-snapgrip.md) - [Automated AI Smartphone Stabilizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smove-pro-mobile-x.md)
