There have been similar concepts like this before, but none so aesthetically pleasing. The Self-Sufficient Streelight gathers [solar energy during the day](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-sula) to power the bulb during the night without any supplementary electricity being used. What this does essentially is greatly reduce a [city's energy use](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-lighting-innovations) and put a ton of cash back into the infrastructure budget.

Now though I am pretty surprised that many cities haven't begun implementing something like the Self-Sufficient Streetlight on their roads, I can also understand why. For that project to happen, every [existing streetlight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-lamp-post-light) would have to be ripped up and a new model put in its place.

Though the Self-Sufficient Streetlight is a very benefitial project, startup costs would be quite high.
