As its name gives away, it is a [piece of furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table) that promotes self defence. It does so by breaking apart to become a shield and bat. A comfort to have at one's side in the case of break-in burglaries or worse, it will ensure people don't go down without a fight. Of course, hopefully the going down part is avoided. Essentially, the Self Defense Night Stand is made up of three parts. The [metal base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barred-collection) has a small protrusion that the [baseball-like stand](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-1) secures to while the tabletop attaches to the stand in a similar way. The latter also boasts metal handles to better bind to the arm. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 78% | Activity: 70% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Personal Safety Furniture:** Opportunity for furniture companies to develop innovative products that prioritize personal safety and self-defense. - **Modular Furniture:** Potential for furniture retailers to explore modular designs that can easily transform into different functional objects. - **Smart Home Security:** Demand for furniture integrated with smart home security systems to provide enhanced safety features. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Innovative furniture manufacturers can incorporate self-defense features into their product lines. - **Home Improvement Retail:** Opportunity for home improvement retailers to offer self-defense furniture options for consumers concerned about personal safety. - **Smart Home Technology:** Collaboration between furniture and smart home technology companies to develop furniture integrated with security features. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Curvaceous Storage-Focused Nightstands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cozy-night-stand.md) - [Tech-Packed Bedroom Nightstands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-bedside-table.md) - [Connected Multifunctional Nightstands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-sleep-nightstand.md) - [Self-Defence Tubular Inflatable Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/street-seat.md) - [Adaptable Bedroom Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mate-bedside-table.md) - [Anti-Tipping Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikea-storklinta.md) - [Bookcase-Equipped Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/low-wall-side-table.md) - [Technology Disconnection Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unhook-table.md) - [Industrial Floating Bedside Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tu-bedside-table.md)
