This Inverted Pendulum Balancing Robot was a DIY project created by 'Justin'. The Robot stays upright by using a rate gyroscope, dual axis accelerometer, and a Kalman filter... which sounds like a lot of detail. Bottom line: this little robot stands tall.

Implications - Although this might seem like a relatively insignificant achievement at first glance, the amount of technology and creativity that went into making this robot able to balance on two wheels is surprisingly staggering. It remains to be seen what other incredible inventions Justin manages to create in the future. If this is any indication of his talent, it looks like he has some truly great ideas in store.
