# Smart Security Door Locks The 'Altro' Smart Lock Blends Connectivity and Security By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2016-03-21 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/security-door-lock References: [thegadgetflow](http://thegadgetflow.com/portfolio/altro-smart-lock/) & [indiegogo](https://www.indiegogo.com/at/altrosmartlock/x/2438776) One of the biggest problems with existing smart locks is how they add functionality but not security, so the 'Altro' is a security door lock designed to change this. Aside from featuring connectivity such as Bluetooth and WiFi, the 'Altro' smart lock is designed to thwart thieves thanks to a tamper-proof design and a lock that can't be picked. Rather than being an add-on device for existing security door locks, the 'Altro' smart lock is an all-in-one device that replaces the entire assembly on your door. This means calibration and alignment issues are virtually non-existent. The lock features a battery life of up to ten months, depending on usage. The 'Altro' smart lock is currently being funded on Indiegogo. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.6/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 81% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Enhanced Security:** The 'Altro' smart lock addresses the problem of existing smart locks by prioritizing security features over functionality. - **Tamper-proof Design:** The 'Altro' smart lock's tamper-proof design offers an innovative solution to thwart thieves and enhance door security. - **All-in-one Solution:** The 'Altro' smart lock replaces the entire assembly on the door, eliminating calibration and alignment issues for a seamless user experience. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Smart Home:** The 'Altro' smart lock is part of the growing trend in the smart home industry, offering enhanced security for homeowners. - **Internet of Things (iot):** The 'Altro' smart lock's connectivity features like Bluetooth and WiFi showcase the potential of IoT in the security sector. - **Crowdfunding:** The 'Altro' smart lock's funding on Indiegogo highlights the growing industry of crowdfunding for innovative security products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ultra-Secure Connected Door Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/netatmo-smart-door-lock-and-keys.md) - [Discreetly Connected Smart Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/level-lock-pro.md) - [Multi-Access Smart Deadbolts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/utec-ultraloq-bolt.md) - [Smart Home Security Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eufy-security-video-smart-lock.md) - [Tubular Handle Smart Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lockly-styla.md) - [Energy-Efficient Smart Home Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultraloq-bolt-zwave.md) - [Connected Auto-Locking Door Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nuki-smart-lock-20.md) - [Easily Installed Intelligent Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/securaki.md) - [Advanced Smart Home Locks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-ubolt-wifi.md)
