East Midlands Airport in the United Kingdom wants to help people proposing to sneak engagement rings through security without arousing suspicion from their partners or creating an embarrassing situation. The secret code can be obtained from East Midlands Security before your trip. When spoken to a security staff member, you will be directed to a separate lane and away from your significant other. This sort of practice will serve to keep proposals a surprise. The airport's Head of Security Matthew Quinney says "Arguably, there are more romantic places to be proposed to than in our security hall." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 63% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Romance](https://www.trendhunter.com/romance) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Engagement Ring Security:** The trend of using secret codes or alternative processes to discreetly pass engagement rings through airport security, ensuring surprise proposals. - **Enhanced Proposal Experiences:** The trend of creating memorable and romantic proposal experiences, such as proposing in unique locations or during travel. - **Privacy and Surprise Preservation:** The trend of prioritizing privacy and surprise preservation in engagement proposals, leading to the development of solutions like security codes. ### Who This Affects Most - **Airport Security:** The airport security industry can explore opportunities to enhance customer experiences by offering special services for passengers planning surprise proposals. - **Jewelry Retail:** The jewelry retail industry can leverage the trend of engagement ring security codes by offering customized packaging or discreet shipping options to maintain surprise. - **Hospitality and Travel:** The hospitality and travel industry can tap into the trend of enhanced proposal experiences by creating unique and romantic settings for travelers planning to propose. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Onion Ring Proposals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onion-ring-proposal.md) - [Engagement Ring Claw Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/engagement-moment.md) - [Carrot-Shaped Engagement Rings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carrot-gold-engagement-ring.md) - [Festive Airline Post Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/letters-to-santa-campaign.md) - [Sparkling Sandwich-Shaped Rings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/baguette-ring.md) - [Sandwich-Based Diamond Rings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/quarter-pound-cod-sandwich.md) - [Secret Gift-Wrapping Suites](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wrapping-rooms.md) - [Location-Aware Security Features](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/revolut-street-mode.md) - [Valentine's Day Flight Promotions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/valentines-day-flight.md)
