# Monolithic Storage Devices The Seagate 4TB GoFlex Desk Backs Up Files in Large Capacities By Matt Ho | Published 2011-09-11 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seagate-4tb-goflex-desk References: [9to5mac](http://9to5mac.com/2011/09/06/seagate-announces-industrys-first-4tb-hard-drive/) & [amazon](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005IA843W/?tag=trenhunt0f-20) An essential to have for anyone with a computer is an [external hard drive](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kingston-dc3000me), and believe me when I say that it doesn't get any better than the [Seagate](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultra-touch-hdd) 4TB GoFlex Desk. Yes, you've read correctly, the Seagate 4TB GoFlex Desk has four terabytes of memory space -- enough room to hold over 2,000 HD movies, which should be more than convincing enough on its own. The item also has a [USB 3.0 interface](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/datamag-20gbps) that offers data rates that are up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0. The overall design is big and bulky, but would anyone really want to carry that much information on hand? With a speedy transfer rate and a ridiculous amount of storage space, the Seagate 4TB GoFlex Desk is the ideal hard drive to have. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 5% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **High-capacity Storage Devices:** Opportunities for developing external hard drives with larger memory capacities to meet the growing demand for data storage. - **Fast Data Transfer Interfaces:** Developing innovative data transfer interfaces that can handle higher data rates for faster file transfers and backups. - **Compact Big Data Storage:** Opportunities for designing compact storage devices that can store big data without being physically large. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Technology Hardware:** Opportunities for technology companies to create innovative storage devices with higher storage capacities and faster transfer speeds. - **Film and Media Production:** Opportunities for film and media companies to store large amounts of HD media without having to constantly switch out external hard drives. - **Data Backup and Recovery:** Opportunities for data backup and recovery companies to offer larger storage capacities and faster data transfer rates for their customers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Expansive External Storage Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ultra-touch-hdd.md) - [Ultra High-Capacity Hard Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mosaic-3.md) - [Ergonomic High-Capacity Storage Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-t5-evo.md) - [High-Capacity Industrial Hard Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wd-red-pro-g-drive.md) - [Ultra-Durable Storage Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-t17-shield.md) - [Future-Facing External Storage Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lacie-mobile-drive.md) - [Automated File Backup Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/synology-beedrive.md) - [Unlimited Network Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/external-storage-solution.md) - [Budget-Friendly Portable Storage Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-nas.md)
