# Sculptural Heaters The Octocube By lourdes sanchez bayas | Published 2008-05-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-heater-the-octocube References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/index.php/2008/05/08/the-octocube-of-mystery/) The strange-looking Octocube was created by designer Vivien Muller. The contraption is actually a heater created entirely from a single, 90 degree elbow, and that's quite remarkable. "The Octocube builds up into a radiant heater with a large surface area, and the inherent flexibility and modularity of the elbow," [Yanko Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture) notes. "It is designed to be a sculptural heater that fits in with any interior." The Octocube is not entirely bad looking but it does remind me a little bit of the human entrails you see in a medical book. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Sculptural Heaters:** The Octocube demonstrates the trend of incorporating artful design into practical heating solutions. - **Modularity in Heating:** The inherent flexibility and modularity of the elbow used in the Octocube suggests a trend towards customizable and adaptable heating systems. - **Integration of Design & Function:** The Octocube showcases the trend of blending aesthetics and functionality in the creation of heating devices. ### Where This Applies - **Home Appliances:** The sculptural and visually appealing design of the Octocube presents an opportunity for innovation in the home appliance industry. - **Interior Design:** The Octocube's ability to seamlessly fit in with any interior style presents an opportunity for collaboration between heating manufacturers and interior designers. - **Sustainable Heating Solutions:** The modularity and energy efficiency of the Octocube elbow can inspire innovation in the development of environmentally friendly heating systems. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modernized Ceramic Heaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delonghi-capsule-desk-loop.md) - [Industrial Oceanic Home Heaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/coral-electric-radiator.md) - [Bathroom-Ready Wall Heaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wallmounted-heater.md) - [Design-Conscious Connected Heaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-electric-heater.md) - [Portable Plug-In Heaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cozypod.md) - [Spinning Flame Space Heaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/terracotta-heater.md) - [Smart 360-Degree Space Heaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-fan-heater.md) - [Posh Panel-Style Heaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apollo-ballu-convection-heater.md) - [Flame-Resembling Outdoor Heaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bonflame.md)
