The unique table is made from an unusual frame of [bamboo and steel cables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wire-chair-concept), which gives it a form that looks almost like an undulating roller coaster. Rather than being made from four straight and boring rectangular wood pieces, the table is made up of [S-shaped wooden pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barricane-tables) that are held together with the cables. Cuthbert's design was initially developed when he was a senior in college, but it took several years for him to realize it as a tangible piece of furniture. Although the table is held together by tension, the table looks as relaxed and free-flowing as a series of rolling ocean waves. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 29% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sculptural Furniture:** The trend of sculptural furniture offers the opportunity for unique and eye-catching designs that challenge traditional aesthetics. - **Natural Materials:** The trend of using natural materials, such as bamboo, in furniture design provides an eco-friendly and sustainable option for consumers. - **Innovative Construction:** The trend of innovative construction techniques, like using steel cables, opens up possibilities for creating unconventional and structurally interesting furniture pieces. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture:** The furniture industry can take advantage of the sculptural furniture trend by offering a variety of visually striking and artistic pieces. - **Sustainable Design:** The sustainable design industry can capitalize on the trend of using natural materials in furniture design to create eco-friendly and environmentally conscious products. - **Construction:** The construction industry can explore the trend of innovative construction techniques and materials to create unique and visually appealing structures and furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fluid Topographic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dune-table.md) - [Crawling Dynamic Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carpentopod.md) - [Topographic Wooden Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/topographic-coffee-table.md) - [Bent Steel Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/creu-coffee-table.md) - [Wave-Inspired Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seahorse-coffee-table.md) - [Harmonious Helical Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vortex-coffee-table.md) - [Paper-Like Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cocoon-coffee-table.md) - [Japandi-Style Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cloth-coffee-table.md) - [Undulating Fabric-Topped Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/groove-table-concept.md)
