# Sculptural Candle Snuffers The Ocasco Was Designed to Emulate the Setting Sun By Ell Smith | Published 2017-07-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-candle-snuffer References: [behance.net](https://www.behance.net/gallery/54172515/Ocaso-candle-snuffer-OTHR?tracking_source=curated_galleries_list) & [othr](https://www.othr.com/products/ocaso-candle-snuffer/447) The Ocaso is a [sculptural candle snuffer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/candl-stacks) that that was inspired by the soft glow of golden hour. Nothing is quite as mysterious and ominous than the [soft glow of a candle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/core-candle-holder) coming to an abrupt extinguishing. This small device adds extra elements of visual stimulation to that simple and predictable act. The tiny triangular design was crated in [3D-printed porcelain](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/souffl-lamp) and is comprised of a rough texture with a ribbed interior -- when upright, the texture was designed to emulate the setting sun. Appearing most defined by candlelight, the snuffer maintains a pseudo light source that remains after the candle has been put out. This was made possible through the pieces' integration of both smooth and rough surfaces, which create a "visual game that is only revealed when the object is lifted." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sculptural Candle Snuffers:** The emergence of sculptural candle snuffers presents an opportunity for designers to create visually stimulating and aesthetically pleasing products for candle enthusiasts. - **Golden Hour Inspired Designs:** Designs inspired by the soft glow of the setting sun offer innovative ways to incorporate unique and captivating aesthetics into various products. - **3d-printed Porcelain Creations:** The use of 3D-printed porcelain for creating intricate and textured designs opens up new possibilities for artistic expressions and high-quality craftsmanship. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can tap into the trend of sculptural candle snuffers to provide consumers with visually striking and functional accessories to enhance their living spaces. - **Luxury Fragrance:** The luxury fragrance industry can explore incorporating golden hour inspired designs into their packaging and product displays to create a unique and immersive brand experience. - **Artisanal Ceramics:** Artisanal ceramics industry can leverage the use of 3D-printed porcelain to create one-of-a-kind sculptural pieces with intricate textures, catering to collectors and art enthusiasts seeking unique creations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mechanical Candle-Inspired Timers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/candle-timer.md) - [Architecturally Inspired Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sfumato-candle.md) - [Sculptural Incense Burners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nuvolino.md) - [Warm Ambient Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reflet.md) - [Striking Sculptural Candles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculpture-candle.md) - [Luxe Candle-Melting Lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infra-luna-20.md) - [Incense-Mimicking Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/incense-lamp.md) - [Interestingly Shaped Candle Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poise-candle-holder.md) - [Artfully Sculptural Incense Holders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aw030001na.md)
