# Sculptural Benches 'Hold The Line' is Customizable and Keeps You Connected in Style By Alexandra Choli | Published 2009-02-16 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-benches-hold-the-line-is-customizable-and-keeps-you-connected-in References: [prechteck](http://prechteck.com/?p=262) The traditional wooden benches are scenic additions to our parks, yet not equally fitting to more contemporary contexts such as playgrounds or modern public waiting areas. For a more creative approach, Christian Precht introduces “Hold The Line,” a [sculpture-like design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strate-bench) with obvious as well as hidden qualities. The curvy concept resembles the form of a waiting loop, twisting wittily around space, but hopefully not time. So, to our knowledge, there is no fear of getting trapped in its encircling body; you are definitely in for a treat, though, considering that network cables and power supply run through its entire loop, with an [iPod](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repod-c1) plug-in and speakers also at your disposal. And there is yet another trait to the disposal of the overwhelmed user, the flexibility to customize this loopy form. Consisting of a number of main bodies connected via an elastic 3D fiber, the concept allows its customers to generate arrangements as they see fit. Stylish and highly functional, the ultramodern bench is a piece of [public seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-bench) I would gladly wrap around me. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 22% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Customizable Furniture:** The 'Hold The Line' bench offers the opportunity for customers to generate their own arrangements, showcasing the trend of customizable furniture. - **Incorporating Technology:** The network cables, power supply, iPod plug-in, and speakers integrated into the 'Hold The Line' bench highlight the trend of incorporating technology into furniture design. - **Sculptural Design:** The unique and curvy form of the 'Hold The Line' bench exemplifies the trend of incorporating sculptural design elements into contemporary furniture. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture:** The 'Hold The Line' bench showcases innovation opportunities in the furniture industry, specifically in the realm of customizable and technologically integrated designs. - **Public Space:** The 'Hold The Line' bench presents disruptive innovation opportunities in the public space industry by offering a unique and functional seating solution for contemporary contexts. - **Technology Integration:** The incorporation of network cables, power supply, and speakers into the 'Hold The Line' bench highlights potential disruptive innovation opportunities in the technology integration industry, specifically in furniture design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-public-seating.md) - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Elegantly Airy Outdoor Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arch-bench.md) - [Dual Sculpture Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immaterial-0001.md) - [Sleek Public Seating Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leftover-bench.md) - [Chic Recycled Aluminum Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bello-bench.md) - [Paper Cord-Wrapped Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modern-bench.md) - [Modular Outdoor Space Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mass-public-bench.md) - [Tree-Intertwined Metal Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tenir-bench.md)
