# Modern Strongly Sculptural Apartments AWE Office's Angular Flats are Eye-Catching & Interesting By Kalin Ned | Published 2018-07-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-apartments References: [dezeen](https://www.dezeen.com/2018/07/24/awe-office-stone-clad-iranian-yazd-apartment-architecture/) & [aweoffice](http://www.aweoffice.com/) Tehran-based AWE Office designs a set of sculptural apartments in Yazd, Iran. The geometrically influenced structure of the dwellings has a definite art deco approach that produces an eye-catching stone-clad facade. AWE Office makes strong design decisions based on the area of development. The two sculptural apartments are located in the Koochen Biuk neighborhood — one that is densely populated and houses people from lower income families. Due to the limitation imposed by the urban narrative of the area, AWE Office's sculptural apartments provide an interesting and design-forward twist to the neighbourhood. The architectural studio draws inspiration not only from art movements and geometric shapes but also from rustic contexts — the structures enjoy an "instantly recognizable hipped roof" that is informed by traditional rural cottages.
