# Clip-On Kitchen Receptacles Scrap Trap Facilitates the Cleaning of Countertops in one Swift Motion By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-03-06 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scrap-trap References: [likecool](http://www.likecool.com/Scrap_Trap--Kitchen--Home.html) & [amazon](http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001UUGWMY/?tag=trenhunt0f-20) It feels a little gross, and frankly inefficient, to use your hand to collect crumbs from your culinary work surface. The Scrap Trap makes cleanups much more straightforward and quite quick through the use of a [small garbage bin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garbage-disposal1) and a helpful brush. The tiny trash can comes with a handle on either side: one is meant to be held while the receptacle is position and the other serves as a hook to be clasped over the top [cabinet or drawer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otis-hanger-30). Push that compartment closed and the [Kitchen Art bin](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bio-fresher) will be conveniently positioned beneath the lip of your countertop. Remove the brush from a slot in one side of the Scrap Trap and use it to whisk, wipe, sweep or scrape bits of food directly into the container. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 40% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Kitchen](https://www.trendhunter.com/kitchen) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Convenient Cleaning Solutions:** The Scrap Trap demonstrates the trend of convenient cleaning solutions by providing an easy-to-use method for collecting crumbs and food scraps. - **Innovative Kitchen Gadgets:** Clip-on kitchen receptacles like the Scrap Trap represent the trend of innovative kitchen gadgets that improve functionality and efficiency in the culinary workspace. - **Streamlined Countertop Maintenance:** The use of clip-on kitchen receptacles, such as the Scrap Trap, points to the trend of streamlined countertop maintenance, allowing for quick and hassle-free cleanups. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Kitchen Appliances:** The kitchen appliances industry can explore opportunities for designing and manufacturing clip-on receptacles like the Scrap Trap to enhance kitchen functionality and cleanliness. - **Home Organization:** The home organization industry can tap into the disruptive innovation opportunity presented by clip-on kitchen receptacles, such as the Scrap Trap, to provide effective and space-saving solutions for maintaining a tidy kitchen. - **Cleaning Supplies:** Manufacturers and suppliers in the cleaning supplies industry can consider developing specialized brushes or tools that complement clip-on kitchen receptacles like the Scrap Trap, maximizing efficiency during countertop cleanups. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Chic Utilitarian Trash Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/carden-the-twin.md) - [All-in-One Countertop Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/countertop-workstation.md) - [Mini Kitchen Vacuums](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brigii-mx30.md) - [All-in-One Kitchen Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kitchen-cleaning.md) - [Tech-Friendly Organization Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sousshelf.md) - [Note Clip Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/note-clip.md) - [Odorless Compost Kitchen Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mill-kitchen-bin.md) - [Customizable Garbage Cans](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/totem-compact-unit.md) - [Humorous Quick Cleanup Workstations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flip-desk-concept.md)
