# Gear-Shaped Lamps The Schproket Light by Christopher Moulder is Magically Industrial By Meghan Young | Published 2013-02-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/schproket-light References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/02/11/schproket-lights/) & [christophermoulder](http://www.christophermoulder.com/) The Schproket Light might be inspired by the standard gear generally applied to wheels, which would naturally give it a rugged, masculine aesthetic. Against all odds, however, it has been tweaked in such a way that it has feminine properties as well. The use of [tiny lights circling the perimeter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caleide) of the teethed edges give the Schproket Light an overall whimsical appeal that makes it perfect for homes. Designed by Christopher Moulder, the Schproket Light can be arranged on the [wall like a glowing art piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barnacle-wall-sconce) or layered and hung from the ceiling in the dramatically ornate fashion of a classic chandelier. Using low voltage bulbs, the Schproket Light experiments with a lighting piece that would use no wires or sockets. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 88% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Magical Industrial Lighting:** Creating lighting fixtures that combine rugged, masculine aesthetics with whimsical, feminine properties. - **Glowing Art Pieces:** Developing wall-mounted lighting fixtures that double as decorative art pieces. - **Wireless Lighting Design:** Exploring innovative lighting designs that eliminate the need for wires or sockets. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Incorporating magical industrial lighting fixtures into interior design projects to create unique and visually appealing spaces. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Producing glowing art pieces that can be customized and arranged in different ways to suit customer preferences. - **Technology and Electronics:** Developing wireless lighting solutions that utilize low voltage bulbs, providing convenience and flexibility in lighting design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Industrial Contemporary Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shop-light.md) - [Sporty Wall-Mounted Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3dprinted-lamp-1.md) - [Geometric-Shaped Wall Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impulse-wall-light.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Chic Saucer-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-in-tight-light-fixture.md) - [Eclipse-Inspired Whimsical Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-traveler.md) - [Dynamic Artful Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ghost-chandelier.md) - [3D-Printed Mood Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbyt.md)
