# Hi-Tech Coffee Taps The Scanomat Top Brewer Reinterprets Caffeine Machines By Matt Ho | Published 2011-12-04 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scanomat-top-brewer References: [uncrate](http://uncrate.com/stuff/scanomat-top-brewer/) & [scanomat](http://www.scanomat.com/coffee-brewers/top) While the Scanomat Top Brewer may look like a modern sink tap, water doesn't come out of it. Believe it or not, the Scanomat Top Brewer is actually a coffee maker despite its slick, deceptive design. The machine itself is stored inside a lower drawer unit, which then dispenses the fluids out of the tap. Since it’s stored in the bottom area, the Top Brewer brings a quieter alternative to coffee machines. The tip of the tap has three nozzles: one for milk, another for coffee and the last as a steamer. The Top Brewer also has an [automatic cleaning system](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/automatic-coffee-machine1), an automatic milk system and it can be controlled via [iPhone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duckduckgo-4) and [iPad](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikebana-reflections). When it comes to coffee machines, it doesn’t get any more modern than the Top Brewer. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 88% | Activity: 96% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Drinking](https://www.trendhunter.com/drinking) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Smart Coffee Machines:** The market opportunity for developing smartphone-controlled coffee machines is still largely untapped. - **Minimalist Designs:** Designing smart home appliances that blend easily with existing home décor can appeal to consumers seeking a seamless, contemporary look. - **Automated Cleaning Systems:** Automated cleaning systems can be a game-changer for busy coffee shops and cafes that need to clean their coffee machines frequently. ### Where This Applies - **Hospitality Industry:** Integrating the Scanomat Top Brewer in cafes, restaurants, and hotels can impress customers with both its efficient design and quality coffee. - **Smart Home Appliances Industry:** Manufacturers can explore creating coffee machines that can be controlled using smart home systems, providing a seamless experience for users. - **Coffee Industry:** Developing automated coffee machines like the Scanomat Top Brewer can revolutionize the industry by offering a quieter and more efficient brewing process. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Automated Barista Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breville-oracle-jet.md) - [Single-Cup Workstation Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brewster-dcm5000.md) - [Automated Touchscreen Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-3200-automatic-espresso-machine.md) - [Contactless Control Espresso Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meraki-espresso-machine.md) - [App-Connected Pod Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kcaf-smart-coffee-machine.md) - [Smart Coffee Brewing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-connected-coffee-machine.md) - [Intuitive Cafe-Inspired Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-specialty-coffee-maker.md) - [Automated Pour-Over Coffee Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xbloom-allinone-coffee-machine.md) - [Portable Digitized Coffee Brewers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brewster-coffee-machine.md)
