# Portable Scanner Phone Apps The CamScanner App is an On-the-Go Scanner for Phones By Jen Chae | Published 2013-06-19 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scanner-for-phones References: [itunes.apple](https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/camscanner-free/id388627783?mt=8) You will often see people taking pictures of an important document, posting or messages onto their phones as reminders, which is why IntSig Information developed an app that acts as a scanner for phones. CamScanner turns your smartphone into a scanning device—though there are no laser beams emitted to scan the document, the app uses intelligent document management to smart-crop and enhance the documents you’ve taken a photo of. The CamScanner allows users to scan (using the phone camera), edit, share and manage documents. The app essentially transfers tangible docs like [invoices or whiteboard messages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/docsnap) and uploads them into the digital world in the best and most professional condition. Eventually, you’ll no longer have to carry around physical business cards or [receipts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snapceipt). CamScanner automatically detects and adjusts the document orientation while perfecting the texts and graphics. This ensures that anything scanned is in crisp condition with premium colors and resolutions. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 24% | Activity: 21% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Portable Scanner Phone Apps:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a portable scanner phone app that includes advanced features like optical character recognition (OCR) and cloud storage integration. - **Digital Document Management:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a digital document management platform that seamlessly integrates with portable scanner phone apps, offering robust organization and search capabilities. - **Paperless Office Solutions:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design an end-to-end paperless office solution that includes portable scanner phone apps, document management software, and electronic signature capabilities. ### Who This Affects Most - **Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Technology companies can develop and market portable scanner phone apps, document management systems, and related software. - **Finance:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Financial institutions can leverage portable scanner phone apps to streamline document management processes and reduce paperwork. - **Retail:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Retailers can adopt portable scanner phone apps to digitize receipts and streamline expense tracking for customers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Barcode Scanning Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barcode-reader.md) - [Modern Business Card Scanners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spreadly-scan.md) - [Mobile 3D Scanning Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/realityscan.md) - [Mobile Magnification Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/macroscope-2.md) - [Digital Expense Trackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/receiptsnap.md) - [Compact Portable Scanners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-scanner.md) - [Dynamic Portable Scanners](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iochowx1.md) - [Screenshot-Organizing Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/screenshot-organizer.md) - [Mobile Note Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/capacities-mobile-app.md)
