As many musicians know, preparing for an exam can be a frustrating and never-wrecking process. Now there is an app that can help eliminate performance anxiety with automated feedback. Scalebook is an app that listens to music being played via the microphone on an [iPad](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piano-widget). The app is able to analyze the sounds it hears and then provide feedback based on performance. The app also includes a mock exam setting, which mimics test conditions and provides a written report of the individual's performance. Crucially, the format of the exam and feedback is the same as that one would receive from the [Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/associated-press). While the app is currently being used to help violinists improve their scales, the technology could eventually be used to replace [music teachers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sereen) in certain scenarios. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.4/10 - Popularity: 65% | Activity: 90% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Automated Feedback:** Scalebook uses automated feedback to provide analysis and improvement suggestions for violinists. - **Mock Exam Setting:** The app includes a mock exam setting that simulates test conditions and provides a detailed performance report for musicians. - **Disruptive Music Education:** The technology used in Scalebook has the potential to disrupt traditional music education by replacing teachers in certain scenarios. ### Who This Affects Most - **Music Education:** Scalebook app is revolutionizing music education by providing automated feedback and exam simulations. - **App Development:** The development of instructional music apps like Scalebook presents growth opportunities for app developers. - **Music Instruments:** The demand for instructional music apps like Scalebook can drive growth in the music instrument industry. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mobile Music Analysis Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/music-analysis-device.md) - [Music Practice Trackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/music-journal-fm.md) - [Vocal Training Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perfect-pitch.md) - [Music Practice Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/repeatlab.md) - [Brass Instrument Simulators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/virtual-trumpet.md) - [AI-Powered Piano Learning Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roli-ai-music-coach.md) - [Jazzy Play-Along Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playalong-app.md) - [Personalized Piano Learning](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/misolla-music.md) - [Music Analysis Compact Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/analist.md)
