# House Off Switch Saving The Environment At The Push of a Button By thischick | Published 2007-06-01 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saving-the-environment-at-the-push-of-a-button References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/product_info.php?products_id=2098) The House-Off Switch is a one-touch electricity-saver designed by [Jack Godfrey Wood](http://www.yankodesign.com/product_info.php?products_id=2098). It's designed to help you to remember to turn off all non-essential electrical appliances and lights before heading-out with just a simple push of a button. The intention is to help save the environment in an easy way that anyone can remember to do. You just install it by your door and on your way out, push the button. But I have an even better idea. Install it outside your front door and it will give Nicky-Nicky-Nine-Doors players a whole new gaming dimension! Now instead of pushing your doorbell and running away, they can turn off all your lights and appliances too before running-off down the street! That would be a hoot! It could become a reality tv show hosted by Ashton Kutcher called "Blackout" and they could film the antics of the hapless people inside who just had everything go out all at once! Where do I come up with this stuff? Must be time for my medication! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Energy-saving Devices:** The House-Off Switch highlights the trend of one-touch electricity-savers, creating opportunities for more innovative energy-saving devices. - **Environmental Consciousness:** The push to save the environment with simple solutions like the House-Off Switch opens up opportunities for businesses to develop and market eco-friendly products. - **Smart Home Automation:** The House-Off Switch demonstrates the growing trend of incorporating automation into households, presenting disruptive innovation opportunities for the smart home industry. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Appliance:** The House-Off Switch is applicable to the home appliance industry, which can explore the development of similar one-touch electricity-saving devices. - **Energy Management:** The House-Off Switch has implications for the energy management industry, as it encourages individuals to be more conscious of their energy consumption. - **Home Automation:** The House-Off Switch shows potential for the home automation industry to offer convenient and efficient ways of managing household energy usage. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Socket-Concealing Light Switches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/l1-switch-system.md) - [Retrofitted Smart Home Switches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchbot-bot.md) - [Provocative Eco Screensavers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/planetsaving-screen-savers.md) - [Plug-And-Play Smart Home Technologies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-switch1.md) - [Modular Self-Monitoring Power Cubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teak-smart-cube.md) - [Smart Home-Controlling Rings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lotus-ring.md) - [Energy-Saving Smart Outlets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-outlet-h2.md) - [Rotating Outlet Power Bars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oconnect-onestep.md) - [Advanced Smart Home Interfaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-home-interfaces.md)
