Using pre-existing technologies like the meter, lancet device and lancet/strip drum, Krugman has created a portable attractive pocket-size tester that can be used quickly and easily. Looking like nothing more than a [gorgeously designed office accessory](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-stylish-pill-box), the Gio is equipped with a dual-sided screen, which allows the tester to use whichever hand they prefer. The lancet is discharged according to finger pressure, and testing times take only 7 seconds. The Gio is also compatible with external devices via Bluetooth. The Gio garnered Sara Krugman some attention at the Diabetes Mine 2011 Design Challenge, and possible marketing of the device is in the works. Keep an eye out for this beautiful and functional health-savvy sidekick. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 16% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Health](https://www.trendhunter.com/health) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Stylish Health Devices:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Develop fashionable and attractive health devices to make managing chronic conditions more appealing and convenient. - **Portable Testing Technology:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Create portable and pocket-size testers that can be easily used on the go for quick and convenient health monitoring. - **Bluetooth Connectivity in Healthcare:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Explore the use of Bluetooth connectivity in healthcare devices to enable seamless integration with external devices and data sharing. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Healthcare Technology:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Embrace innovative design and technology advancements to improve healthcare devices and make them more user-friendly and appealing. - **Fashion and Health:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Merge fashion and health industries to create stylish and attractive devices that promote health and wellness. - **Wearable Technology:** Disruptive Innovation Opportunity: Utilize wearable technology to develop compact health devices that seamlessly integrate into users' daily lives. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [NFC-Enabled Glucose Monitors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curo-g10.md) - [At-Home Diabetes Monitoring Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orange-biomed-a1c.md) - [Portable Diabetes Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inspo-smart-insulin.md) - [Automated Diabetes Care Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blood-glucose-monitoring-system.md) - [Diabetic Health-Tracking Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onetouch-reveal.md) - [Streamlined Diabetes Testing Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diabetes-testing-kit.md) - [Consolidated Diabetes Management Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diabetes-management-app.md) - [Glucose Monitoring Biosensor Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stelo-glucose-biosensor-system.md) - [Glucose Insight Trackers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/islet.md)
