# Modular Planetary Seating Saturn by Sang A Choi Transforms from Chair to Stool to Side Table By Meghan Young | Published 2015-06-17 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sang-a-choi References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/task-chair-celebrates-simple-functional-characteristics/) & [getssang](http://www.getssang.com/) Although the first thing a person might appreciate when surveying Sang A Choi's latest chair design is the form itself, there is a lot more than meets the eye. The geometric pieces it's made up of are [fully modular](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinity-chair), allowing the seat to transform into a stool and even a [side table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portable-1) if desired. Dubbed Saturn, Sang A Choi's design does have a [planetary appeal](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aerospace-seat-spn01) to it. With its bulbous blue cushion, that can be sat on or reversed for a flatter surface, and its sweeping white frame, it's easy to imagine this chair floating in space. Perfect for modern homes -- especially small spaces -- the Saturn chair ensures people get the most out of it. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 25% | Activity: 26% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Modular Furniture Design:** The trend of modular furniture design allows for more versatile and multifunctional pieces like Sang A Choi's Saturn chair to be created. - **Space-inspired Home Decor:** The trend of incorporating space-themed designs and aesthetics into home decor and furniture like Sang A Choi's Saturn chair is gaining popularity. - **Small Space Solutions:** The trend of designing furniture that can transform into multiple pieces to save space like Sang A Choi's Saturn chair is becoming increasingly important for those living in smaller homes. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can incorporate modular design concepts to create more versatile and space-saving pieces like Sang A Choi's Saturn chair. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can capitalize on the growing trend of space-inspired designs by featuring pieces like Sang A Choi's Saturn chair in their collections. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can utilize space-saving furniture like Sang A Choi's Saturn chair to create functional living spaces in smaller homes without sacrificing style. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Seating Design Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pla-modular-chair.md) - [Modular Table Seatings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-table-and-chair.md) - [Dynamic Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-series.md) - [Moon-Inspired Modular Seating Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wigiwama.md) - [Celestial Body Office Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-chair-solar-series.md) - [Modular Chromatic Child Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kidzilla-chair.md) - [Circular Modernist Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zerogravity-chair.md) - [Modular Workspace Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/versatile-stool-design.md) - [Modern Seating Centerpieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-chair.md)
