The [composting robot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minix) is designed to resemble a dog and can handle both food leftovers and pet poo. The unit uses an additive and heat to compost the waste that it’s fed. While it’s fine for ornamental gardens, pet poo shouldn’t be added to a non-heated compost bin or used in food gardens since it may contain harmful bacteria and parasites. Composting with heat can kill the harmful pathogens, but the process should be verified first. The $900 Samu dog robot trash can is only available in Japan or from specialty importers. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.9/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 32% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Robotic Composting:** Creating automated robots that can process waste and turn it into compost for gardening purposes. - **Smart Waste Management:** Developing more efficient waste management tools that promote sustainable practices and reduce environmental impact. - **Intelligent Trashcans:** Designing trash cans with innovative technologies that compost waste and reduce the amount of waste produced. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Robotics:** Invent new software and hardware solutions for automated waste processing devices. - **Sustainability:** Explore ways to make waste management more sustainable with the goal of reducing environmental impact. - **Smart Home:** Integrate new technologies to household waste management creating more efficient and sustainable solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Fully Automatic Kitchen Composts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/food-waste-composter.md) - [Odor-Busting Waste Composters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/waste-composter.md) - [Reactive Robotic Dog Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oro-robot.md) - [Robotic Pet Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/guliguli-smart-companion.md) - [Microbe-Rich Kitchen Composters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geme-composter.md) - [Automated Pet Companion Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enor-e1.md) - [Speedy Countertop Composters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-kitchen-composter.md) - [Robotic Canine Companions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metadog.md) - [Upcycled Dog Foods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/doggiebag.md)
