The smartphone features a relatively conventional design at first glance, but reveals a wrap-around section of the display for the upper portion. This works to extend the display onto the rear, while also providing users with a way to extend the amount of available area in the front when taking a video call playing a game and more. The Samsung Galaxy Z Series sideways foldable smartphone concept maintains an almost Tetris-like design that, when unfolded, shows off an L-shaped aesthetic. The smartphone design has a patent-inspired form, which means it could come to fruition in the future. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.0/10 - Popularity: 62% | Activity: 47% | Freshness: 11% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Sideways Foldable Smartphones:** Design and create new foldable smartphone models that feature sideways folding for a different kind of interface and productivity capability. - **Wrap-around Displays:** Explore using a wrap-around section of the display to extend the display onto the rear, while also providing users with a way to extend the available area in the front when taking a video call, playing a game and more. - **L-shaped Smartphones:** Incorporate an L-shaped aesthetic in the design of future smartphones to offer users an almost Tetris-like design and better display areas. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Smartphone Manufacturing:** Manufacture and design smartphones with new features that offer different kinds of interface and productivity. - **Mobile Technology:** Integrate and develop new types of technology to be used in future smartphone models. - **Patent Law:** Explore the viability of patent-inspired smartphone designs and improve patent law to encourage innovation and creativity. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Transforming Tablet Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-galaxy-fold-mini-concept.md) - [Flexible Folding Concept Phone](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flex-in-out-flip.md) - [Triple-Folding Smartphone Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/galaxy-z-trifold.md) - [Tri-Fold Mobile Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-galaxy-trifold.md) - [Wrap-Around Display Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motorolas-wraparound.md) - [Triple-Folding Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zero-series-mini-trifold.md) - [Productive Physically Flexible Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-galaxy-z-fold4.md) - [Tri-Folding Smartphone Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tecno-phantom-ultimate-2.md) - [Flipping Multi-Display Smartphones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/samsung-galaxy-z-flip5.md)
