The 980 Pro improves upon the previous iterations of Samsung SSDs by featuring a built-in passive air cooler via a nickel heatsink. The new heatsink-equipped Samsung SSDs boast a drastically improved terabytes-written (TBW) endurance level as a result of their lower temperature while operating under load. The one-terabyte model reportedly boasts a TBW of 600, while the two-terabyte model features a 1,200TBW. In addition to their improved TBW, the Samsung 980 Pro SSDs achieve [ultra-fast read speeds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ga-pro-ssd) of up to 7gb/s as well as write speeds of up to 5gb/s.
