# Sculptural Condiment Claws Salt & Pepper Pawz Add a Bit of Fierceness to the Flavors of Your Feast By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-02-13 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/salt-pepper-pawz References: [ladiesandgentlemenstudio](http://www.ladiesandgentlemenstudio.com/salt-pepper-pawz/) Effective [salt and pepper shakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/salt-gift-pack) need only be containers of some description, molded with at least one perforation for the escape of the fine seasoning granules. This set of Salt & Pepper Pawz then demonstrates how much freedom a designer is afforded to incorporate extra value into such staple culinary items. Ladies & Gentlemen opted to sculpt their dispensers into nimble [feline feet](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dinoosh). The pair were cast in stoneware to produce the paw of a white cat and the paw of a black one. Complete with soft-looking pads, sharp claws and a finely etched furry texture, the pieces embody an odd realism. Unable to stand securely upon their [corked open ends](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/michele-de-lucchi), the Salt & Pepper Pawz are placed sole-upwards so that the punctured holes are visible. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 1% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Animal-inspired Culinary Accessories:** Designers have the opportunity to incorporate extra value into culinary items by crafting them in the shape of animal paws or other animal-inspired designs. - **Realistic Texture in Kitchenware:** Incorporating fine details like furry textures into kitchenware items creates a unique and realistic aesthetic. - **Functional Design Elements in Salt & Pepper Shakers:** Salt & Pepper shakers can be designed with elements like perforations and corked ends to enhance functionality and ease of use. ### Where This Applies - **Kitchenware Manufacturing:** Manufacturers in the kitchenware industry can explore new design opportunities and create innovative products inspired by animals. - **Home Decor and Giftware:** Home decor and giftware companies can capitalize on the trend of animal-inspired culinary accessories by offering unique and stylish items for consumers. - **Art and Sculpture:** Artists and sculptors can utilize realistic textures and animal-inspired designs in their creations to appeal to a wider range of audiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Premium Peppercorn Seasonings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/premium-peppercorn.md) - [Dual Spice Shaker Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stui.md) - [Contemporary Pepper Grinder Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zjddg.md) - [Designer Pet Bowls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smallserve.md) - [Extra-Spicy Hot Pepper Grinders](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/extreme-hot-pepper-grinder-set.md) - [Minimal Cat-Care Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mew-cat-care-set.md) - [Functional Table Seasonings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/table-seasonings.md) - [Package Opener Dental Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/heinz-grillz.md) - [Cat-Inclusive Dinnerware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fancy-feast-set-for-delight.md)
