The four-story structure is conceived as a contemporary intervention that mediates between the [iconic religious landmark](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/st-leonards-church) and its natural hillside setting. The Welcome Pavilion seeks to enhance the visitor experience for over two million annual guests. Key features of the building include a new bell tower housing a sixty-two-bell carillon and a series of interior spaces, such as a cafeteria and gardens, designed to foster contemplation. Lemay utilized locally sourced stone in gabion walls to create a visual and tactile connection to the mountain. The project has been executed with a focus on universal accessibility and sustainable design principles, having achieved LEED Silver certification through strategies like green roofs, energy-efficient systems, and the reduction of paved surfaces.
