# Plain Household Paintings Ryan Stewart Nault Illustrates Everyday Objects in a Minimalist Ma By Jason Soy | Published 2011-12-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ryan-stewart-nault References: [brwnpaperbag](http://www.brwnpaperbag.com/2011/12/14/ryan-stewart-nault/) & [flickr](http://www.flickr.com/people/ryannaultart/) The cliche goes, "less is more," but it's a completely true adage when applied to the artwork of Ryan Stewart Nault. You won't find the hyperrealistic sensibilities of modern day digital artists in these [rustic analog pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drawing-series), but that's what makes them so exciting. It's quite striking how little there is in a Ryan Stewart Nault painting. The subject of one painting seems to be just two planks of wood resting upon a wall of a [minimally furnished room](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/marcela-cure). The shadows in his illustrations are also often inaccurate if one were to map out his light sources, but there's a definite charm to the pieces in their humbleness. It reminds viewers of their relation to art before they became jaded by too much visual stimulation. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.9/10 - Popularity: 19% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Minimalist Art:** Opportunity for artists to create visually impactful work with minimalistic elements, challenging traditional artistic norms. - **Analog Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for artists to explore traditional art mediums and techniques in a digital-dominated world. - **Simplicity in Design:** Opportunity for designers to embrace minimalism and create visually appealing products that prioritize simplicity and functionality. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art & Design:** Artists can leverage minimalist and analog approaches to create unique and captivating artwork. - **Home Decor:** Opportunity for home decor businesses to cater to the trend of minimalism and offer products that enhance simplicity and minimalistic aesthetics. - **Digital Art Platforms:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for digital art platforms to incorporate analog-inspired artwork and appeal to a broader audience looking for a departure from digital hyperrealism. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Miniaturized Product Art Photographs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/small-muji.md) - [Vibrantly Colorful Dynamic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kayla-rumpp.md) - [Monochrome Sculpture Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ralph-pucci-pure-exhibition.md) - [Leftover Househouse Paint Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paint-drop.md) - [Painting Display Campaigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pointillism.md) - [Raw Metal Design Shows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nick-valentijn.md) - [Oil Painting-Inspired Rugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antonio-santn.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Photography Project Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/still-life-1.md)
