# Sturdy Structured Seating The RW Chair by Mike Dye Looks Like a Sled By Jessica Marcel | Published 2009-12-12 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rw-chair References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/rw-chair-by-mike-dye/) & [mdadesign.net](http://www.mdadesign.net/product.htm) The most that Design Milk seemed to be able to say about this chair is that it's adjustable, which is hardly impressive. But there are some unique features in the RW Chair that make it interesting. The DW Chair by Mike Dye looks like a sled or workshop piece, but it's actually a modern chair. The structure is solid, and the chair would be a great addition to a [minimalist or rusticly designed decor scheme](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miko-armchair). **Implications** - For those looking for [head support and carefully crafted seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freedom-chair) and backing, this [sturdy structured seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yay-chair) is the way to go. As opposed to most furniture which focuses solely on aesthetic, this RW Chair by Mike Dye looks quite functional and comfortable. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 2% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sturdy Structured Seating:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Designing furniture that combines aesthetics with functionality and comfort. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Creating minimalist and rustic designs that prioritize head support and carefully crafted seating and backing. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Research-Backed Swooped Work Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breck-chair.md) - [Dynamic Structural Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldont-chair.md) - [Versatile Dynamic Armchair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dynamic-armchair.md) - [Durable Designer Outdoor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/breeo-x-series-chair.md) - [Naturalistic Stainable Seat Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/daisee-chair.md) - [Modernist Ski-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tip-chair.md) - [Woven Midcentury Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kida-armchair.md) - [Structurally Complex Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-arch-chair.md) - [Suitcase Sheet Metal Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neoprimitive-chair.md)
