# Wavy Sculptural Architecture This Russian Resort Tapers to Create the Shape of an Arc By Christopher Magsambol | Published 2015-10-22 | Updated 2015-10-25 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/russian-resort References: [archdaily](http://www.archdaily.com/775812/actor-galaxy-speech-architectural-office) The Actor Galaxy is a Russian resort with a dizzying [wavy facade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archvyli). The building's curved shape follows the topography of the sloped land, creating a distinctive arc in the city skyline. Each floor is built with [terrace barriers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/one-river-north), all of which differ in their wavy shape. This creates an undulating visual effect making them appear that they are all in motion. The interior of the building houses a massive drop in the center. This atrium is treated as the main public space where panoramic elevators are located. Also, this area houses stores, cafes and artwork. The [massive atrium](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hotel-volga) is covered in white and throughout the day creates interesting shadows and shapes caused by the building's glass ceiling. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 10% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Wavy Sculptural Architecture:** Creating visually striking and dynamic buildings with undulating, wave-like forms. - **Terrace Barriers:** Designing terrace barriers with wavy shapes for a unique and eye-catching aesthetic. - **Panoramic Elevators:** Incorporating panoramic elevators in buildings, providing an immersive experience and offering stunning views. ### Who This Affects Most - **Resort and Hospitality:** Integrating wavy sculptural architecture in resort designs to create a visually captivating and memorable experience for guests. - **Construction and Architecture:** Developing terrace barriers with wavy shapes to offer innovative and visually appealing design solutions for buildings and structures. - **Retail and Art:** Utilizing large atrium spaces in buildings to house stores, cafes, and artwork, creating unique and immersive retail experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Coastal Shiny Cantilevered Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shebara-resort.md) - [Shapeshifting Outer Space Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acromnia-orbital-hotel.md) - [Spiralling Stainless-Steel Cultural Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/010-building.md) - [Sculptural Facade Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fractal-facade-house.md) - [Wavy Dual-Action Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archvyli.md) - [Curved Translucent Experimental Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptors-apartment.md) - [Arched Garden-Topped Cultural Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hengqin-culture-and-art-complex.md) - [Sci-Fi Coastal Hotel Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/epicon.md) - [Spherical Urban Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grand-ballroom.md)
