With an attention to detail reminiscent of iconic Russian matryoshka dolls, the exterior of the structure looks like something from a futuristic movie set. [Arch Daily](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/katseye-x-gap) says the designs were inspired by traditional Russian womenswear. “The 20-meter towers, in white, red and gold, will duplicate the ancient Ural towns dating back 3,000 years ago, but given a modern touch with their irregular shapes,” the Expo site explains. They demonstrate the diversity of both ancient and modern cities.” We’ve featured some remarkable structures for the [Shanghai 2010 Expo](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shanghai-expo) on Trend Hunter, and if you’re fascinated by unique architecture, they’re well worth checking out! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.1/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Cubic-fairy Tale Architecture:** Opportunity for architects to integrate traditional designs in modern architecture. - **Iconic Matryoshka Doll-inspired Designs:** Opportunity for designers to draw inspiration from traditional cultural symbols. - **Attention to Detail in Modern Architecture:** Opportunity for architects to prioritize intricate details in contemporary building design. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture:** Opportunity for architects to merge traditional designs with modern styles. - **Design:** Opportunity for designers to incorporate cultural symbols in their work. - **Tourism and Events:** Opportunity for event planners and tourism boards to promote unique architectural wonders in their marketing efforts. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Glowing Sphere Art Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/netherlands-pavilion.md) - [Vast Wooden Structural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grand-ring.md) - [Art Expo Village-Esque Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/saudi-arabia-pavilion.md) - [Serene Waterfront Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lake-house-life-experience-pavilion.md) - [Tranquil Round Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-round-pavilion.md) - [Pointy Paper Lantern Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-lantern-pavilion.md) - [Traditional Sailing-Inspired Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/from-the-coastline-we-progress.md) - [Code-Generated Pavilion Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-orb.md) - [Chinese Tradition-Honoring Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chinese-paper-umbrella.md)
