The designers took into consideration the three [mature oak trees](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oak-house-1) that surround the property when building, resulting in the home's L-Shaped configuration. To adhere to the client's wish of a home with outdoor interaction, the designers included several covered porches and walkways. A stair-stepping boardwalk allows the main living area to closely engage with the outdoors without compromising the trees. The living area is flanked by bedroom lofts and porches on either side. A [barn-like door](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bulls-barn) separates the bedrooms from the living area below, allowing inhabitants the option of opening their private space to the social area. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 46% | Activity: 17% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Rural Residences:** Opportunity for innovative designs that integrate outdoor interaction and preserve natural surroundings. - **L-shaped Configuration:** Potential for utilizing unique architectural layouts to optimize space and engage with the outdoors. - **Boardwalk Engagement:** Disruptive potential to create seamless connections between indoor and outdoor spaces through elevated walkways. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architectural Design:** Opportunity for architects and designers to create innovative residential structures that harmonize with the natural environment. - **Outdoor Living:** Potential for companies to cater to the growing demand for outdoor living spaces and furnishings. - **Home Renovation:** Disruptive potential to incorporate new design elements, such as barn-like doors, into home renovations to enhance privacy and social interaction. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Contemporary Cantilevered Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/westview-residence.md) - [Tranquil River-Overlooking Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/river-bend-residence.md) - [Rustic Texan Ranch Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rockin-8-ranch.md) - [Tree-Surrounding Contemporary Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/live-oak-ride-residence.md) - [Private Lifestyle Minimal Bungalows](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/southwestern-residence.md) - [Farmhouse-Style Renovated Ranch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pontious-ranch-house-in-dripping-spring.md) - [Pigsty-Converted Farmside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-recipe-house.md) - [Perched Grassy Hillside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meadow-house.md) - [Woodland Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orchard-house.md)
