The [Sabre](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sabres-frontiersman) [personal alarm](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/protechme) is casually placed on the wrist and is sweat and weather-resistant. If necessary, users can pull on the alarm's clasp to set off a piercing sound that could ward off any danger. The pepper gel is another running safety device that fits around the hand and can deploy pepper spray at attackers. The fact that it is a gel rather than a spray prevents it from blowing back and affecting the user as well as the attacker. These safety devices ensure the peace of mind or protection of people who may be at risk when exercising outdoors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 79% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Wrist-mounted Personal Alarms:** Wrist-mounted personal alarms provide a disruptive innovation opportunity for self-defense by offering a discreet and easily accessible way to ward off potential danger during outdoor activities, such as running or walking. - **Pepper Gel:** Pepper gel running safety devices offer a disruptive innovation opportunity by providing a controlled and non-aerosolized form of pepper spray, enhancing user safety during outdoor exercises. - **Weather-resistant Safety Gear:** Weather-resistant safety gear for outdoor activities, including running, presents a disruptive innovation opportunity to ensure the protection and peace of mind for individuals in potentially vulnerable situations. ### Where This Applies - **Personal Safety:** The personal safety industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities by developing and marketing wrist-mounted personal alarms and other running safety devices to enhance protection during outdoor activities. - **Self-defense:** The self-defense industry can leverage disruptive innovation by creating and promoting pepper gel as a safer and more effective alternative to traditional pepper spray, providing enhanced safety for individuals engaging in outdoor exercises. - **Sporting Goods:** The sporting goods industry can embrace disruptive innovation by producing and distributing weather-resistant safety gear designed specifically for outdoor activities, such as running, to enhance the safety and confidence of individuals in potentially risky situations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Connected Personal Safety Alarms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pom-safe.md) - [Location-Tracking Safety Wearables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orbit-protect-gps-tracker.md) - [Sleek Illuminating Runner Belts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumabelt.md) - [Connected Personal Safety Alarms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchbot-safety-alarm.md) - [Employee-Focused Personal Safety Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/personal-safety-devices.md) - [Plogging-Friendly Sports Bands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eco-running.md) - [Women’s Safety Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/im-safe.md) - [Safety-Focused Female Runner Collectives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/running-mate-collective.md) - [Camera-Equipped Exercise Vests](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-urban-eyes-vest.md)
