Creator Tuinvrouw Huisman came up with the Ruler Lamp, an ingenious way to decorate your home using [upcycled materials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remli).

If there is an extra lamp lying around that you never use because you hate the way it looks, this is a great opportunity to give it a different look by revamping the lamp shade. If you don't have an extra lamp, the [metal base](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp) used in this example was found in a second-hand shop for very cheap, as were the old-fashioned rulers that make up the lamp shade. This DIY piece would look great in a child's bedroom or in a school classroom, and hopefully it will inspire the children to come up with their own creative ideas.

The Ruler Lamp is a great project for a rainy day.
