# Shaggy Scales The 'Rug With Scale' by Kwon Sunman Constantly Tells You Your Weight By Meghan Young | Published 2010-02-08 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rug-with-scale References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2010/02/08/just-what-is-your-weight/) Although the idea of constantly knowing my weight is not that appealing, I can understand the benefits of such knowledge and, therefore, why the ‘Rug with Scale’ would be an asset to anyone’s lifestyle. Created by Kwon Sunman, the ‘Rug with Scale’ is a constant reminder to stay on track, while providing a perfect soft spot for just outside your bathroom (the ideal place, according to YankoDesign.com, to place it). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Constant Weight Monitoring:** The 'Rug with Scale' trend highlights the growing demand for constant weight monitoring at home. - **Multi-functional Home Decor:** The trend of multi-functional home decor is exemplified by the 'Rug with Scale' which combines a scale and a soft rug. - **Wellness Tech:** The 'Rug with Scale' represents the intersection of wellness and technology, offering a new opportunity for innovative wellness tech products. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** The 'Rug with Scale' introduces an innovation opportunity within the home decor industry to combine functionality and aesthetics. - **Health and Wellness:** The trend of constant weight monitoring creates a potential disruption in the health and wellness industry, where consumers are increasingly focused on self-care and tracking. - **Smart Home:** The 'Rug with Scale' showcases the potential for smart home technology to integrate health monitoring seamlessly into everyday objects. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Skateboard-Inspired Body Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skateboard-scale.md) - [Smart-Designed Body Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartdesigned-body-scale.md) - [Smart Health Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/withings-body-scan-2.md) - [Holistic Health Smart Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/korehealth-korescale.md) - [Cartoon-Themed Smart Bath Mats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/issin.md) - [Multifunctional Home Smart Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wyze-scale-ultra.md) - [Conceptual Body-Scanning Mirrors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-omnia.md) - [Portable Minimalist Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bifur.md) - [High-Precision Sensor Scales](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/household-smart-scale.md)
